“Transfer-to-a Friend” feature for online banking customers starts August 28 — and it’s free!
Banking is made even easier with Transfer-to-a-Friend — a free online banking feature that allows you to transfer funds from your account to the account of another online banking customer at CB&T.
Now paying a friend back for covering the cost of your lunch or even transferring funds into your son’s or daughter’s account while away at college is quick, safe and easy to do with Transfer-to-a-Friend.
You can also schedule future transfers and set up recurring transfers for added convenience and efficiency. If they are a CB&T account holder and online banking customer, just add their account to your profile and transfer funds instantly. Sending money to a friend has never been easier.
Set-up is simple – just follow these steps:
Add an Account to Your Profile
- Log into your Online Banking account.
- Click on the "Transfers" tab.
- Click "Other Accounts."
- Select "Add Friend's Account at CB&T."
- Enter the FULL 10-digit account number of the account you wish to add (you'll need to get the account number from your friend). You can also assign a nickname to the account so you'll easily recognize which friend it belongs to.
- Click "Preview Account."
- At this point you can either Cancel, Edit or Submit the account addition.
- If you choose "Submit", the new account will be added to your list of friends' accounts, and you'll be able to complete transfers to them immediately.
Transfer Funds to a Friend
- Log into your Online Banking account.
- Click on the "Transfers" tab.
- Under "Transfer Options" click on "Create a New Transfer." (Please note that you must add your friends' accounts to your account profile before you can process a funds transfer.)
- Using the drop-down boxes, select the account of yours that you want to transfer funds FROM and the friend's account you want to transfer funds TO.
- Enter the amount of the transfer, including dollars and cents. (Example: 14.75) You can also enter any specific notes concerning the transfer in the "Memo" field.
- Next, enter the date that you want the funds to be transferred.
- Select the frequency of this particular transfer. In other words you can choose how often this transfer should take place. For instance, you can select:
- One Time Only, for a funds transfer to occur only once
- Every Week, and the same transfer will occur once every 7 days
- Every Two Weeks and Every Month are the remaining frequency options
- Select how many times you want the transfer to take place, and then click "Preview Transfer."
- Review the Preview Transfer screen. You have the option to Cancel, Edit or Submit the transaction. If everything looks good, click "Submit."
- The next screen will show that your funds transfer was successful, or it will inform you if any errors occurred.
Once the transfer has been submitted, you'll immediately be able to review this transaction in the "Activity" section of your account. It will appear as "Internet Banking Transfer."
