Media Advisory - "School's Out, Hunger's Not", California Bank & Trust and Feeding America Host Summer Food Drive

WHEN: Monday, June 23 - Wednesday, July 7, 2014. Food may be donated during banking hours.

WHAT: From June 23 - July 7, participating branches of California Bank & Trust in San Diego will host a canned food drive in partnership with the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity Feeding America San Diego to collect non-perishable food items for local children in need.

WHYHunger doesn’t take a summer break when school food programs do. During the summer months 1 in 4 San Diego children go hungry, loosing access to critical school subsidized breakfast and lunch programs. Existing food challenges are a reality for approximately 1 out of every 5 families in San Diego creating a significant need for countless hungry kids in the local community.

The “School’s Out, Hungers Not” food drive aims to provide nutritional meals for San Diego’s food-insecure children, bridging the gap between hunger and hope during summer vacation.

WHERE: The following California Bank & Trust Branches:  La Mesa, El Cajon, Mission Gorge, Alpine, San Diego, Vista, GTO, Emerald Plaza, Scripps-Poway, City Heights, Encinitas, La Jolla, Hillcrest, Rancho San Diego, Rancho Bernardo, Kearny Mesa.
