We create California’s best banking relationships — and we’re pleased to meet you.

California Bank & Trust (CB&T) has agreed to acquire four FirstBank branch locations in Palm Desert and Indio, including deposit, credit card and loan accounts, for individuals and businesses. We’re excited about expanding our presence in Coachella Valley.

The acquisition is expected to take place in first quarter of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval. The branches to be acquired will operate as FirstBank branches until completion of the deal and will be re-branded as California Bank & Trust immediately upon closing of the transaction. Until then, it is business as usual for all FirstBank clients. Learn more about the pending acquisition by viewing our frequently asked questions (FAQs).

FirstBank branches will close early at 3 p.m. Friday, March 21, including the Night Depository. The Night Depository will not be available again until Monday morning, March 24.

Yes. Additional information was mailed in February regarding changes to loan accounts.

If you have a FirstBank mortgage, your account will be transferred to CB&T on March 22, 2025. Letters are being mailed in March with information about where mortgage payments should be sent on and after March 22. Additionally, you can register here to view your mortgage account information online approximately seven days after the conversion.

Look for a letter from our preferred check vendor, Deluxe, with a promo code and instructions on how and when to order replacement check supplies. Business account holders can place their replacement orders as soon as their Deluxe offer letter is delivered in March. Personal account holders can place their orders starting Monday, March 24. FirstBank checks will continue to be processed for 90 days post-conversion, so you may use your FirstBank checks until your replacement order arrives.

You may begin using your new CB&T branded checks starting March 22, 2025.

Your new deposit routing number is 122232109

You may begin using your new CB&T branded cards once activated on and after March 22, 2025, using the phone number on the card.

In March, authorized account holders will receive information about accessing online and mobile banking. You will receive access instructions for CB&T Digital Banking by March 22, 2025.

If you are already a CB&T customer with Digital Banking access, use your CB&T Digital Banking user ID and password to access your new account information. If you are not already enrolled in Digital Banking with either FirstBank or CB&T, get started on March 24, 2025, by visiting calbanktrust.com/digitalenroll or visit any CB&T branch. The first time you sign in, you’ll be required to accept the Digital Banking Services Agreement.

We recommend downloading FirstBank statements and transaction history by March 21, 2025.

You will be receiving a letter from FirstBank in the coming weeks which will have details about ongoing servicing. Your HSA or College Savings Account will remain with FirstBank and will not be transferred to CB&T.

FirstBank’s Coachella Valley branches will close early at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, and reopen as CB&T branches at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025. Otherwise, there will be no interruption in access to your safe deposit box (SDB). You are responsible for paying SDB rents invoiced by FirstBank. For SDB rents due on or before March 21, 2025, please make payments to FirstBank. For SDB rents due on or after March 22, 2025, please make payments to CB&T. Beginning March 22, 2025, CB&T will mail either a SDB renewal invoice or an SDB automatic payment invoice at least 10 days prior to the rent due date.

If you have opted for FirstBank’s Linked Account Overdraft Protection, your CB&T accounts will automatically be enrolled in our overdraft funds transfer service. A $12 fee will be charged per automatic transfer from another deposit account to cover an overdraft. Overdraft lines of credit will continue, with detailed information provided in letters sent to account holders in February.

If you have a FirstBank-branded credit card, your account will transition to CB&T and your card number will change. Primary credit card account holders were mailed account-specific information regarding the transition in February. A NEW CB&T card will be mailed in March, but you won’t be able to activate it until March 22, 2025. Your old card will stop working on March 22, 2025, and your FirstBank recurring payments will need to be reestablished after this date with the new account number.

If your FirstBank credit and/or debit card(s) are enrolled in Apple Pay,® Google Pay,® or Visa® Click to Pay, then you will need to add your new CB&T credit and/or debit card(s) to these services.

CB&T is a member of the Real Time Payment Network; however, there will be a one-time delay while a system process occurs overnight on Monday, March 24, to allow your converted CB&T account to receive Real Time Payments. Any payments received on Monday, March 24, will be returned to the sender. If this payment return results in overdraft issues for your account, please contact your branch. Beginning Tuesday, March 25, those payments should process as normal. RTP payments require senders to use the recipient’s routing number and bank account number, so be sure to provide senders with the CB&T routing number to use after conversion: 122232109
